Mary Jon
Storey
July 5, 1926 – September 14, 2024
Mary Jon Storey, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on September 14, 2024, at the age of 98. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Born on July 5, 1926, in Plainview, Arkansas, Mary was the only child of Marvin Gossett and Velma Frances Collins Gossett. She lived a rich and vibrant life, filled with love and dedication to her family. She devoted over 30 years to teaching, sharing her knowledge in Germany and several other states. She adored traveling abroad and sewing, and was a fantastic cook that enjoyed hosting friends and family. Her home was always a place of joy and warmth.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Velma Gossett; her devoted husband, Jack Alan Storey; her son-in-law Jimmy A. Gray and her best friend and cousin, Sammye Collins Hopper.
She is survived by a loving family who will keep her memory alive in their hearts forever: her son, Steven Jon Storey; her daughter, Suzanne Storey Gray; her grandchildren, Jeb Rudder (Megan), Samuel Storey (Chloe), Lora Davis, and Beth Gray (Jennifer); her great-grandchildren, Rawson Rudder and Fynlee Gray; and her favorite dog, Eiko.
Mary will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her unwavering dedication to those she loved, her quick-witted sarcasm, and the countless ways she brought joy into their lives. Her legacy of warmth, generosity, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Our family extends special thanks to Hospice Home Care and Legacy Heights for the exceptional care they provided to our mom and grandma during her final days.
A celebration of Mary Jon's life will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at New Bethel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you find JOY in your own lives, as Mary would have wanted.
Rest in peace, dear Grandma. Your love and memory will stay with us always.
