Melva Joyce McCutcheon age 94 of Belleville passed away Tuesday October 6, 2026 at Mitchells Nursing Home.
Joyce was born March 6, 1932 in Sherman, Texas to the late Elmer Lloyd & Edith Maude Smith Miller. She was born in the back seat of a car and she married the love of her life William Oliver McCutcheon 13 days after they met. A marriage that lasted 61 years upon Oliver’s
death. She was a retired teacher at Western Yell County School after 20 years of teaching..
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Oliver McCutcheon; parents; grandson, William Paul McCutcheon; and sons-in-law, Gary Carter and Buster Roberts; siblings, Carl, Bud, June, Mary Lloyd, Doris, Nancy, Tommie; and nephew, Danny Payne
Survivors include her children, James (Buddy) McCutcheon (Dee Ann), Eva Duke (Randy), and Linda Taylor (David); grandchildren, Michael McCutcheon (Crish), Shawn McCutcheon, Britt Roberts, Matthew Carter (Lisa), Andi Parsons (Cody), Becca Carter (Bryan), Arianna Carter (Ryan), Jonathan Webb (Kelly); great-grandchildren, Collin, Brendan, Katelyn, Cyira, Jordan, Anthony, Jackson, Alex, Kinsley, Jacob, Emily, Noah, Ada, Baby Gomez on the way and a host of step-grands and great-grands, several nephews and nieces that she called her own and grand dog Donald (DonDon).
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, October 9, 2026 at the Grace Church in Belleville with grandson Cody Parsons officiating.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 pm before the service at the church.
Burial will be at Russell Cemetery in Belleville.
Pallbearers include Matthew Carter, Bryan Gomez, Ryan Post, Mike McCutcheon, Brendan McCutcheon and Jackson Carter.
Honorary pallbearers include grandchildren, great-grandchildren and former students.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Western Yell County Elementary School Book Fair.
