Dr. Melvin Landers, age 73 of Bluffton, died Monday, September 19, 2016, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born September 21, 1942, in Cave City, Arkansas to the late Corbet & Syble Johnson Landers.

After graduating from high school in 1960, he served four years in the United States Army. After his discharge from the Army, he attended Arkansas State University, where he obtained his Bachelor's, Master's and Specialist's Degrees. He obtained his Doctorate from Ole Miss in Oxford, MS. After thirty years in education he retired as school superintendent of Cedarville School District.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Landers.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Donna Kay Landers; brother and sister-in-law, Ray & Cathy Landers of Cave City; sister, Donna Van Winkle of Cave City; and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
