Meredith "Mert" Quinton Carpenter age 80 of Lamar, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Johnson County Medical Center. He was born December 25, 1943 in Claremore, Oklahoma to the late Ross Carpenter and Nedith Dick Carpenter. He was a member of the Christian Life Center in Clarksville and was employed by Tyson Foods in Clarksville for over 20 years. Mert was a full blood Cherokee Indian, his grandfather was a Tecumseh Indian and he fought against George Washinton. Mert loved to record 50's music and showing off his close up magic along with his many jokes. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Tina Carpenter of Lamar; sons, Clifton Carpenter of Clarksville, Jacob Carpenter (Heather) of Washington State; grandchildren, Brianna, Lily, Casey, Natalie, Arwen and six great grandchildren.
