Myrl Lee Brown Simons, age 86 of Buckeye, Arizona, formerly of Vicksburg, Mississippi passed peacefully Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at her home surrounded by family.

Myrl was born August 1, 1936 in Galesburg, Illinois to the late Otis LeRoy Brown and Grace Smith Brown. She was born a twin and the youngest of 9 children. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Galesburg, Illinois where she eventually met and married her husband of 61 years, Hubert W. Simons. He predeceased her on January 12, 2018.  In addition to her husband, Myrl was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.

After her children were older, she returned to work operating the Scottish Inns in Vicksburg, Mississippi for 27 years.  She had a positive outlook on life and an infectious laugh that warmed many hearts.  She was a strong, loving wife and Mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler and swimmer.  She took joy in crocheting, reading and spending time with her puppies, Chelsea and Baby.

Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Standridge (Randall) of Russellville, Kelli Gonyea (Bill) of Buckeye, Arizona; three sons, Owen and Jay Simons of Russellville, Troy Simons of Buda, Texas; grandchildren, Shawn, Trevor, Stephanie, Kristy, Kailynne, Jonathon, Rebecca, Justin and Rachel; ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 7 at 10:00A.M., at the Dardanelle First Assembly of God Church, 1940 State Hwy 22, Dardanelle, Arkansas 72834. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 9:00A.M. to 10:00A.M. at the church prior to the service. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Pollard Cemetery in Dover, Arkansas.
