Nelda J. New died at her home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. She was the daughter of Albert and Oleta Horn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charlie; a brother-in-law, Darvin Gladden and a nephew-in-law, Charlie Parker.

They were blessed with two children, Chuck New (Kay) and Dr. Sandra Parham (Dr. Jon); five grandchildren, April Watson (David), Evan Long (Mia), Dr. Kayla Sapkota (Dr. Pradeep), Hannah Bridgman (Jeff), Charla Owens (Jessie); three great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Josiah Watson, and Keeva Sapkota; a sister, Treva Gladden; niece, Alisha Parker and nephews, Michael and Dallas Parker.

Nell was a member of Pottsville First Baptist Church. She grew up in Arkansas, Texas and New Mexico. She lived in Virginia and Alaska, and made 5 European trips and one to Hawaii. Nell enjoyed gardening, reading, and teaching. She taught 30 years, 4 in Dardanelle and 26 in Russellville High School. She loved her students and co-workers, church and biological families, care takers, and friends and thanked them for a good and happy life.

There will be no public services. Arrangements are private.

She would say, "Good bye until re-united in a better world".
