Norma Tate Jones age 84 of Dover passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Russellville Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born January 14, 1936 in Dover to the late Granville Tate Johnson and Lola Mae Brigham Johnson.
Norma was a founding member and Board Member of the Dover Rural Fire Department, founding member, Board Member, and Secretary of the River Valley Antique Automobile Club, past Secretary Treasurer for North New Hope Cemetery, member of the Dover United Methodist Church, Dover Extension Homemakers Club, volunteer for Meals on Wheels and she served on the Dover Housing Authority Board. She spent her life raising her family and working side by side with her husband at Jones Service Station in Dover for over 40 years. Norma Tate loved people, she loved serving her church and her community. Norma Tate was all about family – she loved having all of her family around her supper table. She was known for her banana cream pies, her famous peanut brittle and the best oatmeal any grandmother could make. Her grandchildren were her life – Norma loved to travel to Branson for a weekend of music and shopping for anything cobalt blue with her lifelong "twin sister" Mrs. Betty Lynch Burnett. She was preceded in death by her parents. Granville Tate Johnson and Lola Mae Brigham Johnson and her beloved husband, Hiram Juel Jones Sr.
She is survived by her son, Hiram Juel Jones Jr. (Bobbie) of Ola; daughter, Cathy Jones of Dover; Janice Jones of Dover; four grandsons, Russell Jones (Macy) of Little Rock, Kevin Jones (Rachel) of North Little Rock, Juan Jones of Little Rock, Daniel Jones of Dover; great grandson, Henry Carter Jones of North Little Rock; brothers, William Paul Johnson (Betty) of Dover, Jerry D. Johnson (Anna) of Dover; sister, Sandra Drittler (Leroy) of Dover; nieces, Anita Dennis of Russellville, Amy Drittler of Harrogate, TN and great niece, Harper Claire Pressnell of Harrogate, TN.
Visitation will be open Thursday, from 11:00A.M. to 3:00P.M. at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle.Burial will be private.
