Ervin Odean Parker, 82, departed this earthly life on February 21, 2023 for his eternal life with our Lord. He was born on February 2, 1941 in Havana, Arkansas on Cedar Creek to James Ervin and Marjorie Bird Parker. When Odean was 4 years old, his dad was killed in World War II.

Odean graduated from Havana High School in 1959. He attended Harding College in Searcy for 3 years and graduated from Arkansas Tech. He received a masters degree from the University of Arkansas in counseling. He did his practice teaching in Plainview, was the girls' basketball coach at Hermitage for 2 years, and was a high school counselor at County Line for 2 years. Odean worked as a counselor for Arkansas Rehabilitation Services and then started at Danville State Bank (now Chambers Bank) in 1971 where he worked until retirement in 1996.

Odean was a member of the Danville Church of Christ for 52 years where he served as elder, treasurer, and a Bible teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rita Yandell; in-laws, Thurman and Evalee Owens; and brother-in-law, Danny Owens.

He is survived by his loving, devoted wife and caregiver of 55 years, Jerrie; his loving daughter, Erin; nieces, Kris (Steve) Ridenour, Kelli (Brian) Crowe, McKenzie Kist, Katie Kist, Jennifer Mitchell, Brigette Cobb, Tara (David) Lawrence; nephews, Jeff Yandell, Jacob (Kaylee) Yandell; brother-in-law, Owen (Lenora) Yandell; many great nieces, nephews, extended family, adopted daughter, Leslie Ward and 3 grand dogs, Big, Little, and Joanie to whom he was Pops.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Leon Millsap Senior Activity Center from 10:00 to 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leon Millsap Senior Activity Center, Furry Tails Rescue, or a charity of your choice.
