Obituary

Opal Duke Castleberry, 95, went to be with the Lord on December 31st surrounded by her family.

Born July 21,1930 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to the late Willie and Alice Smith Duke. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Castleberry, brother Gerald Duke, and sister Reba McDuffy.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Lance Johnston of Rocky Branch, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Ricky Day of Danville; sister Jeanne Bender of Strong; 4 grandchildren Jodi Tucker, Jarrod Davidson, Colleen Goddard and JP Day; 8 great grandchildren Riley, Abby, David, Callie, Cooper, Kaley, Chase and Elaina

Opal was known for her strong faith in the Lord, love of her family and her feisty personality.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Chalybeate Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Danville. Visitation will be held at 1pm prior to services. Brothers Kevin Tucker, Jim Mullins and Brandon Gibby will officiate services. Burial will follow in Ladd Cemetery in Danville

Pallbearers include Bryan Tucker, David Tucker, Jarrod Davidson, JP Day, Matt Goddard, and Brandon Williams.

Honorary pallbearers are the men of Chalybeate Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
