Opal Ray Ward Opal Ray Ward, age 83, of Dardanelle died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the V.A Hospital in Little Rock. He was born September 20, 1928, at Hayti, Missouri to the late Ray Opal and Daisy Dimple Tilmon Ward. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the unit that was activated to Central High in 1957 during the Civil Rights movement. He was also a member of the Dardanelle VFW Post Boyce Woods #3141. He loved the Razorbacks and his family and more importantly he was Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Danny Ray Ward; one sister, Ruby Nell Emberson. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, LaVerne Drewry Ward of Dardanelle; one daughter, Mona Gray and husband Keith of Dardanelle; two sisters, Kitty Johnston of Dardanelle, Betty Sue Wallace of Dardanelle; five grandchildren, Jamie Ward and wife Anna, Crista Haney and husband Steven, Travis Ward, Brandi Chandler and husband Chris, Rhiannion Davis and husband Jake all of Dardanelle; eleven great grandchildren, Amber Ward, Kenedie, Luke and Allie Weber, Skylar Ward, Carter, Paige and Kailey Chandler, Eli and Jaysa Baker, Bella Davis all of Dardanelle. Funeral services will be held 10:00A.M., Monday, March 5, 2012 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Bro. Jared Higginbotham and Bro. Chris Chandler officiating. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, 2:00P.M. to 4:00P.M. in the chapel. Pallbearers: Steven Haney, Jamie Ward, Travis Ward, Chris Chandler, Jake Davis, Keith Gray.
