Obituary

Oskar Rindfleisch, 84, of Russellville, Arkansas, went home to the Lord on January 7, 2021, after prolonged health conditions. He was born in Germany. He and his siblings closer to his age endured years of hardship during WWII and spent years living in an orphanage. He arrived to America in 1954, at the age of 17. Four years later, he married Geneice Foster in Houston, Texas. They later moved for a short time to Connecticut. While there, he was drafted in the U.S. Army. He was trained as a Combat Engineer. He spent a tour of duty in Korea and then was stationed at Fort Knox. He and Geneice loved visiting her Uncle Clint and Aunt Frances Foster while there. They ended up settling in Upstate New York. Oskar retired after 35 years of service to Evans/WR Grace/Dow Chemical. He and Geneice were married until her death in 1991. He was also predeceased by 2 infant daughters, one infant son, and his sister Elizabeth. Oskar loved racing his BSA at Paradise Speedway, in Phelps, NY. He raced flat track and scrambles in the expert class. He later changed his interest to driving touring bikes. He loved trips made on his BMW and his Ventura to visit his brothers in CO. He also enjoyed bicycling, canoeing, dancing the Polka, gospel music, reading his Bibles, and the Farmers Almanac. He later enjoyed growing tomatoes. He also enjoyed his bus ministry at his Baptist Church years ago. As his health and vision was declining, he made the decision to move to AR to be with his family here. Oskar leaves behind the following survivors:

  • Daughters Karen Kahler (Marty) and Elaine Rindfleisch, all of Russellville.
  • Also 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
  • Grandson Michael Higgins (Sandra) and their four children, Brandon, Blake, Evelyn and Bennett Higgins, all of Lebanon, PA.
  • Grandson Steven Higgins (Imelda) and their sons Caleb Tanner and David Higgins, all of Russellville.
  • Grandson Edward Thomas (USMC) and his daughter, Allison, of N.C.
  • Granddaughter Geneice Thomas of Cayuga, NY.
  • He leaves behind his siblings, brothers Erich Rindfleisch (Grace), Emil Rindfleisch (Colleen), and Gottlieb Rindfleisch (Diana), all of CO.
  • Sisters Erika Longobardi (Ralph) of Fairport, N.Y. and Selma Rindfleisch of Germany.
  • He also leaves behind nieces and nephews.

Oskar had a beautiful smile and beautiful wavy hair. He loved his time in Arkansas, and enjoyed his visits while here to Mount Nebo, Mena, and Lake Dardanelle, and time with his family. Due to covid restrictions, the family will have graveside services at a later time. Arrangements will be made by Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts for Oskar be sent to Lighthouse Children's Home, P.O. Box 730, Kosciusko, MS 39090 (662-289-9629).
