Obituary

Peggy W. Black Garrison passed away Wednesday November 15th 2017 at Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The oldest of 14 children, Peggy was born December 27th 1936 to the late George C. and Lorene James Black in Portageville MO. She was united in marriage with Thurman Garrison on November 13th 1954.  They celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2005. She was retired from Tyson Foods after more than 26 years of service. Peggy was a Christian having accepted the Lord as a young teenager and was firm in her beliefs throughout her life. She most recently attended Dardanelle First United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband she was proceeded in death by three sisters: Angela Williams, Susie Wurst and Connie Avila. Two brothers: James Black and Roger Black. She is survived by her children: Phyllis Ann Hogan (Dan) of Brentwood TN and Mitcheal Garrison of Delaware AR. Two grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann Hogan of Atlanta GA and Garrison Hogan of Brentwood TN. Six sisters: Georgia Avila, Naomi Conrad, Rosemary Black, Tammy Moon (James) all of Missouri, Diana Stempel (Klaus) of Germany and Jena Black of Texas. Two brothers: Robert Black (Sherrie) of Missouri and Harold Black (Kathy) of Benton AR.  Additionally, she is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Garrison in-laws that she loved deeply as well as a very special family friend, Ricky Sims, whom she considered one of her own.

The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Saturday November 18th 2017 with visitation one hour prior to the service at the Dardanelle First United Methodist Church 100 North Second St Dardanelle AR 72834.  Officiating will be Reverends Jim Benfer and Jackie Pledger. Interment will be in Garrison cemetery Delaware AR.

Pallbearers will be Bill Jack Parker, Brad Parker, Claud Garrison Jr, Ben Garrison, Randy Garrison and Verlon Sims.

Honorary pallbearers will be Aulton Heath, Ella and Kaitlyn Kirkland, Trenecia Rupert, Christina Ford, Eddie Alejandro, Melanie McClure and Elijah Hardee.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Dardanelle First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 188, Dardanelle, AR 72834, Arkansas Hospice or the charity of your choice.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful, compassionate, caring staff of Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center during the last year of her life as well as the wonderful care provided by the hospice team from Arkansas Hospice.
