Peggy Ruth Mitchell was born on May 15, 1957 to Bland and Mable Aaron Mitchell in Little Rock, Arkansas. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Fair View C.M.E. Church in McAlmont, Arkansas. Peggy united in marriage to Derwin K. Gilkey on November 30, 1991. She was employed by Energy Arkansas Nuclear One for 33 years. She loved traveling, family history and was an avid Razorback Fan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Floyd Thomas; infant sister, Pam Mitchell; brother-in-law, Raymond Gilkey; nephew, Brandon Johnson and in laws, Hazel and Joeretta Gilkey.

She leaves behind to celebrate her life, a loving spouse, Derwin K. Gilkey of the home; sister-in-law, Natalie (James) Johnson of Lubbock, Texas and brother-in-law, William (Gail) Gilkey of Conyers, Georgia and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00P.M., Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Dardanelle, Arkansas with Rev. Michael Scroggins and Rev. Stephanie Gilkey officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 12:30P.M. to 1:00P.M. at the chapel. Graveside services will be held at 3:45P.M. at Rest In Peace Memorial Gardens in Hensley, Arkansas.
