Poley Lester Murphy passed away September 7, 2018 at the John McClellan VA Hospital Hospice in Little Rock. He fought a courageous battle since March to survive MRSA.

Mr. Murphy was born January 2, 1953 to Poley and Lois Hearing Murphy who preceded him in death. He was celebrated as the first baby of the year at the Fayetteville, Arkansas Hospital. They didn't know at the time, but he was also a decedent of the Pioneer Daniel Boone Family and a decedent of twenty four grandfathers who fought in the American Revolution. He is also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: Mary Newman of Dover and Jim and Sondra Murphy of Oklahoma. "Murphy" enlisted in the Army September 1970. He did his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He received advanced training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky and was a tank crew member in Germany and Korea.

After the military, he studied accounting at Northwestern University. Before he retired from Quality Control at Dardanelle Tyson, he was quite popular helping fellow workers with their income taxes. He also worked as a physical therapist for Baptist Hospital in Little Rock where he had the pleasure of assisting former Razorback Player Steve Little. He was baptized as a youngster in Job Corps in Texas.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his special friend and step-father, Johnnie Patrick of Pottsville; a brother Charles Metz of Dover and sisters, Mary Knuckles of Hot Springs, Shirley Martin of Oklahoma, Jeannie Bake of Springdale, Polly Frye (Dale) of St. John, Indiana and Brenda Linton (Jerry) of Russellville.
