Rachel Lytle, "Granny", age 97 of Morrilton, passed away Friday, June 20, 2025 at Brookridge Cove Cottage in Morrilton. She was born April 24, 1928 in Huffman, Arkansas to the late Robert L. and Sleetia Nelson.

Granny was Granny to everyone—her kids, her grandkids, and to all who knew her.  She was a fierce protector, and she made everyone feel loved- through her kindness and her cooking. She was selfless to a fault and modeled resilience in each of the trials in her life, including the losses of four of her children. She selfessly cared for her son, Carl, who was in a tragic accident, for more than 40 years until she was no longer able. We have heard many times "Granny is one of the strongest people I know", and she displayed that feistiness and strength until the very end. She truly was one of a kind. Everyone loved Granny, and Granny loved everyone back!

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Larry Wood; daughters, Vivian Crain, Wanda Cody, and Rachel White; twelve siblings and two grandsons, Kevin Wood and Joseph Lytle.

Survivors include four children, Brenda Newsom (James), Joan Hanna (Arlie), Carl Lytle, Joe Lytle; eight grandchildren, Theresa Hughes (Doug), Sonja Jones (Scott), Tina Parish (Nathan), Lisa Tanner (Gene), Connie Fisher (Barry), Bobbi Yarbrough (Chris), Whitney Winn (Keith), Jessica Moore (Lucas); nineteen great grandchildren and fourteen great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, 9:30A.M. to 10:00A.M. at Oppelo Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00A.M., Monday, June 23, 2025 at Oppelo Baptist Church with Bro. Gene Tanner officiating.

Pallbearers will be Chris Yarbrough, Lucas Moore, Scott Jones, Nathan Parish, Barry Fisher, and Ewell Cody.

Rachel's family wishes to express a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Brookridge Cove Cottage and Dr. Kyle Trauth and his nurse, Carol Zimmerman.
