Raymond Vega, age 85 of Russellville, passed away Friday, April 29, 2022 at Springs of Batesville Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born June 24, 1936 in LaVilla, Texas to the late Samuel Vega and Elida Fernandez Vega.

Raymond 's great joy was boxing. He was a professional boxer from 1959-1973, and he coached at the Memphis Boys Club, as well as trained kids in the River Valley. Raymond was the 1959 Mid South Golden Gloves Champion! He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lisa Vega and a sister, Mary Lou Vega.

Survivors include his wife, Junior Bailey Vega of Russellville; four children, Raymond Vega Jr. (Becky) of West Memphis, Arkansas, Mary Anne Vega (David Chronister) of Russellville, Pete Vega of Pottsville, Phillip Vega (Chrystal) of Dardanelle; eleven siblings, Lilia Mobley Keizer of Arkansas, Benita Sides of Selmer, Texas, Beatriz Meyers of Lakeland, Texas, Samuel Vega (Kathy) of Springfield, Missouri, Romeo Vega (Barbara) of Rogersville, Missouri, Felix Vega (Margie) of West Memphis, Arkansas, Jesus Vega (Delphia) of Ozark, Missouri, Elida Kirtley (Billy) of Earle, Arkansas, Fairley Vega (Joann) of West Memphis, Arkansas, Jimmy Vega (Carol) of West Plains, Missouri, Olivia Vega of West Memphis, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren, Bailey Vega, Natalie Wring, Max Chronister, McKinzie Chronister, Malachi Vega, Justus Vega, Drew Vega, Creed Vega, Kaylynne Pitts, Eric Vega, Matt McGee, Christy Moore and six great grandchildren, Avery Wring, Tristin Christensen, Melody Vega, Brock McGee, Cloe Moore and Layden Moore.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00P.M., Saturday, May 14, 2022 at St. John's Catholic Church in Russellville.
