Richard "Rick"
Leon Dixon
August 10, 1953 – January 18, 2023
Richard "Rick" Leon Dixon of Belleville, surrounded by his children, mom, and siblings went to his Eternal Home on January 18, 2023.
Rick was born on August 10, 1953 to Robert and Rose Dixon of Belleville. After graduating from Belleville High School in 1971, he went on to attend Arkansas Tech University and Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. Following graduation, Rick became a licensed embalmer and a funeral home director. Throughout his career he worked in many areas of the funeral industry, owned Dixon Funeral Home, and ultimately retired from owning Morris Monument Company in Jasper, AL in 2016.
Rick was a 32nd Degree Freemason and held close to the fraternity's six core values – Reverence for God, Integrity, Devotion to Country, Justice, Tolerance, and Service to Humanity.
Rick was a proud father. He was incredibly artistic, multi-talented, and a world-class story teller. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Rick can certainly recall a funny story he told. He was a true cowboy, from breaking horses at a young age to studying and breeding some of the country's best blood lines, Rick's love for horses ran deep. He was musically gifted and taught himself how to play several instruments, all by ear. He was well known for his exceptional piano skills and blessed many people by playing at the Spring Creek Church on Sundays and even in some weddings. He took pride in his work as a true Monumental Mason and spent hours hand sketching, hand cutting, and sandblasting stones. His precision, skill, and respect were unmatched.
He was a friend to all and will be deeply missed by many.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Robert Dixon. He is survived by his mother, Rose Dixon; his five children: Emily Dixon-York, Erin Dixon, Keri Dixon (husband Ryan Henry), Kayla Newberry (husband Nick), and Ryan Leon (wife Katelynn); his four grandchildren: Jayce York, Braden, Noah, and Charlie Newberry; his siblings Rhonda Mitchell, Robert "Bob" Dixon, Randall Dixon, Russell "Tuff" Dixon, Renelda "Beth" Fincher (husband Jim) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Upper Spring Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 9:00 to 10:00 am before the service at the church. Burial at Upper Spring Creek with Masonic Rites.
Arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home Danville and River Valley Crematory Dardanelle.
