Ruby Nell Pugh, age 92, of Rover died Friday, December 20, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith. Words cannot begin to describe how much "Mama P." will be missed by her loving family. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend that anyone could ever have. She will be fondly remembered for her love, kindness, generosity, and strong faith. The world's tremendous loss is heaven's great gain. Ruby was born September 1, 1921 in Rover to the late Robert Lee Whitten and Margaret Jane Hogan. She was co-owner of Pugh's Grocery and served as Asst. Postmaster in Rover with her husband, W.T."Dub" for thirty-four years. Ruby was a devout member of Rover Baptist Church and was the Treasurer for many years. Mama's motto was always "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." She won the Grand Champion Award in the Clothing Division at the Yell County Fair for many years and all her competitors were glad when she retired and quit entering the competition. Ruby was also an active member of the EH Club for many years. Ruby was "sharp as a tack" and two of her favorite daily activities were to work Jumbo puzzles and solve Wheel of Fortune puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, W.T "Dub" Pugh, son Bill Pugh, parents, brothers Jake Whitten and R.L. Whitten, sisters Lula Howell and Myrtle Johnson. Ruby leaves behind her daughter, Barbara Faught, and husband Bill of Fort Smith; daughter-in-law Betty Pugh of Paris; six grandchildren, Tammy O'Dell, Keith Faught, Kevin Faught, Alan Pugh, Robert Pugh and Beth Keisling; nine great-grandchildren, Whitney O'Dell, Julianne O'Dell, Ben Keisling, Claire Keisling, Andrew Faught , Charlie Faught, Brady Faught, John Tyler Faught, and Sarah Pugh. Visitation will be Sunday, December 22, 2-4 pm at Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville. Services are Monday, December 23, at 2 pm at Rover Baptist Church with Reverend Elvin McDill officiating and burial will be at Hunts Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers are Keith Faught, Kevin Faught, Alan Pugh, Robert Pugh, Phil O'Dell and Thale Keisling. Honorary Pallbearers are the staff of Mitchell's Nursing Home, John Blankenship, Phil Robertson, Johnny Turner, and Ray Hawkins. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mitchell's Nursing Home, Ruby's second home since 2010. She was so happy living there surrounded by a caring, loving staff and residents. Ruby was recently named "Kindest Resident" by the staff.
