Sharon Kay
Eriksen
February 27, 1961 – July 24, 2019
Sharon Kay Eriksen was born on February 27, 1961 in Vinton, Iowa to Rudy Dake and Karen (Bascom) Mettler. She spent most of her early childhood in the Vinton area. In the sixth grade the family moved to Arnolds Park, Iowa, where Sharon attended her remaining years of school and graduated from Arnolds Park High School. Sharon and her graduating class were known as the "Park Rats." Sharon remained in the Lakes Area after high school, where she had her first child, Krista. A few years later, Sharon met her best friend and love of her life, Trent Eriksen. They were married on April 7th, 1990. Over the next few years, they had two children, Rachel and Anna. They lived in Everly, Iowa for a short time before they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. From there the family moved to Buffalo Center, Iowa and then, later, to Woden, Iowa. Sharon spent most of her time there raising her three beautiful daughters. A few years after her oldest graduated high school, the family moved to Wesley, Iowa. A short time after that, Trent was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy, so the family then moved to the Lakes Area. During her time there, Sharon lost: her mother, Karen Mettler in 2010 and her best friend, Teresa Davis in 2011. The family moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota in 2012. One day, Sharon received a call from Trent. He was on a job and had called Sharon to let her know that he had found "Home." While in Hutchinson, Sharon lost her step father, Marvin Mettler in 2013 and her father, Rudy Dake in 2014. In 2014, the family moved "Home," to Russellville, Arkansas. This is where Sharon would learn of her diagnosis and spend a long, exhausting three years, fighting melanoma. Sharon developed a love and appreciation for coloring during her fight. Sharon's motto during her struggle, through the good days and the bad days, was, "I got this!" Copper became her protector at home and she also got a cat, Pumpkin, that would be with her every step of the way. On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, Sharon lost the battle and passed away at the age of 58 in the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville, Arkansas.
Sharon was preceded in death by: her parents, Rudy Dake and Karen Mettler, her step father, Marvin Mettler, and her best friend, Teresa Davis. Sharon is survived by: her husband Trent Eriksen of Dover, Arkansas, her three daughters, Krista DeVoll of Estherville, Iowa, Rachel Eriksen of Dover, Arkansas, and Anna Eriksen and fiancé, Bettie Breeden, of Dover, Arkansas. Her brother, James Dake of Wisconsin and her sister, Carolyn Scolaro of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As well as, many of her other relatives and friends. She will be forever in our hearts.
