Sherry Gayelene Petty, 67, of Plainview, Arkansas, passed away peacefully in her home on January 7th, 2026. Sherry was born on September 11th, 1958, in La Mesa, California. The oldest of three siblings, she was born to Smythe "Smitty" Walls and Barbara (Thomas) Walls.
Her family moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas from Phoenix, Arizona in 1975, and was a graduate of Siloam Springs High School, class of 1976.
Sherry resided in Siloam Springs the majority of her life where she was a homemaker, Braum's store manager, and later worked for the family business at Smitty's Body Shop. She was known for involvement at West Siloam Springs, Assembly of God where she enjoyed working with children's church and vacation bible school. After moving to Plainview, she was actively involved with First Baptist Church of Plainview where she volunteered with Loaves and Fishes Ministries, church summer camp, and making breakfast every week for the kids before Sunday school. Sherry enjoyed cooking, baking dozens of cookies for firefighters each holiday season, taking her grandchildren on trips, organizing a yearly family reunion at Roaring River, and her love of all animals, especially poodles.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents Smythe and Barbara Walls, one brother Michael Lee Walls, and stepson Steven Petty.
She is survived by her loving husband Kelvin Petty of Plainview, Arkansas. Daughter Jennifer Soule and husband Brent, of Gravette, Arkansas; son James Walls and wife Meredith of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; nephew Steven Walls of Bentonville, Arkansas; sibling Steve Walls and wife Rebecca of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Sherry had twelve grandchildren, Elizabeth Gonzalez and husband Nicholas, Rachel Koimn and husband Rocky, Madisyn Gregory and husband Chandler, Baron Livesay, Ty Walls, Reece Hammons, Ronan Soule, Kenli Petty, Hudson Hammons, Hayden Walls, Hudson Walls, and Gideon Soule. She had five great-grandchildren and one on the way. She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Sherry touched the lives of several children she fostered and was considered a second mother to many.
A celebration of life will be held at Believers Fellowship of West Siloam Springs on January 17th, 2026, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations may be made to Believers Fellowship of West Siloam Springs or Siloam Springs Animal Shelter.
