Obituary

On Sunday, December 25, 2022, Shirley Mae Wallis, gained her eternal wings with her family by her side. She Was born May 23, 1943 in Blue Ball Arkansas to Willie and Ethel James Hunt.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her three brothers, Audie, Nolas and Gene Hunt.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 57 years, Billy Gene Wallis of Danville; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Troy Reed of Rover; one son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Denise Wallis of Dover; four grandsons, Cody Reed (Candace) of Perryville, Blake Reed of Rover, and Baxter and Kenlee Wallis of Dover; one great-grandson, Coy Jackson Reed of Perryville; one sister-in-law, Madge Hunt of Waldron; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Shirley retired from the Danville School District after 32 years of service in the cafeteria where she served hundreds of students and staff. She and Billy enjoyed their retirement traveling around the state camping, and listening to Bluegrass, and Gospel music, and going to craft shows together. Shirley loved to cook for her family and friends, and she did so with a selfless heart as she loved seeing others happy. She would always be the one calling to check on others to make sure they were doing ok and asking if they needed anything.

Shirley's celebration of life service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Moore's Chapel Church in Waveland, Arkansas. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday December 28, at Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville.

Pallbearers will be Stacy Fowler, Josh Fowler, Wesley Horn, Weston Burk, Clay Woodall, and Jimmy George.

The family would like to thank the Chambers Hospital staff and the St. Mary's ICU staff for their loving care.
