Tommy Jo
Papasan
August 10, 1923 – June 19, 2022
Tommy Jo Papasan, of Danville, Arkansas passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Mitchells Nursing Home.
Jo was born the fourth daughter of Billie and Loma Taylor McCasland, in Bradshaw, Texas on August 10, 1923. She grew up on the farm there and married Alvin Papasan of Ovalo, Texas in 1939. They lived in the area until moving to Parks, Arkansas in 1948. After more than 50 years, 25 of them as Postmaster of the Parks Post Office, she retired and moved to Danville, Arkansas to be near her sons and their families.
She was very active at Parks Baptist Church, where she served as pianist for 54 years and taught the young married class and served as the informal church hostess. She fed and housed many of the 'little preacher boys' that got their start at the rural church. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully all of her life. She was a faithful Prayer Warrior and never shied away from being an outspoken witness for the Lord.
She was an active leader in everything her children participated in as they grew up, as well as their biggest cheerleader. She loved all children as her own, especially when it came to feeding kids when they were hungry.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Billie Woods of San Angelo, Texas and Pat Aldridge of Bradshaw, Texas; her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Papasan of Danville; her grandson, Don Eppler of Tyler, Texas; her great granddaughter, Lauren Papasan; and her beloved husband of 66 years, Alvin Papasan.
She is survived by her children: Pat Eppler and husband Dale of Tyler, Texas; Mike Papasan of Danville, and Tommy Papasan and wife Christy of Danville; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 8 great- great-grandchildren; her sister, Ocoee Meadows, 103, of Stallings, North Carolina and a host of nephews and nieces.
