Tony Franklin
Nail, Sr
Feb 18, 1964 — Jul 24, 2026
Dardanelle
Tony Franklin Nail Sr., 62, of Dardanelle, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Russellville surrounded by family. Tony was born on February 18, 1964, in Danville, Arkansas, to James Thomas Nail and Lois Lorrean Riley Nail. He spent his life working in construction and the poultry industry, where he was known for his strong work ethic, forward thinking business savvy and the willingness to lend a helping hand. On life’s journey, Tony found love with several unhinged women. He found his great love with his wife of almost 20 years, Sherri York Nail. They married in 2008 creating a large and loving family. Together they built a beautiful life centered on family and friendship.
Tony enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved spending time hunting and fishing, building stock cars for racing, playing poker and golf, sharing stories with friends and family, and making people laugh. He was never one to turn down a cold beer or a trip to the Casino. He also never turned down a friend in need. Tony enjoyed teaching those around him. Whether he was teaching about the proper way to tie a snell knot on your fishing line, how to safely navigate a deer stand, the history of the Arkansas River Valley or how to generally not be a bone head- he always taught with earnestness and passion. He was also a member of Chamberlain Country Club where he nurtured a love of golf that he shared with his youngest son. Whether enjoying a day outdoors or sitting around with loved ones telling stories, Tony had a way of making every gathering memorable.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas Nail and Lois Nail; and by his siblings, James Nail, Elizabeth Walker, and Lynn Nail.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sherri York Nail; his children, Candice Nail (William Roberts), Tony Nail, Jr. (Alisha Underwood), Krisanthe Nail (Joshua Foy), Austin Auther, Koral Blalack, and Denver Nail; his sister, Kathryn Melnick (Jim Melnick); his cherished grandchildren, Karma, Logan, Jacob, Hazel, Kimber, Langston, James, and Easton, along with countless bonus grandchildren through marriage and unofficial adoption. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and generous spirit.
Tony will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his love of the outdoors, his gift for storytelling, his off color jokes and the joy he found in spending time with those he loved most. His legacy will live on in the memories shared by his many family and friends.
In lieu of flowers or donations the family requests that you teach a child something that you love. In his honor take a young child fishing, camping, boating, golfing or, better yet, teach them how to sneak a snack in the deer stand quietly.
In accordance with Tony’s wishes, cremation has been chosen, and no formal service has been planned.
The family plans to meet on Saturday September 12, 2026 to spread his ashes on top of Petit Jean Mountain at sunset. All who loved him are welcome to join.
