Tony LaWayne Wallace age 94 passed from this life on December 21st, 2024 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville, AR. Known to most by Wayne.
He was born on September 6th, 1930 in his parent's home on Pea Ridge to the late John Brown and Susie Wallace.
Wayne served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. After marrying Erlene in 1954, they started a family and moved to Causey, New Mexico where he owned and operated the Causey Hardware store and helped to establish the Fire Station and new baseball field. After moving back to Arkansas in 1966, Wayne lived on the farm where he grew chickens, raised cattle, hogs, and ran a dairy. Wayne was a hard worker and passed down a strong work ethic to all his children. Wayne had a great passion for music, teaching himself the guitar and harmonica at an early age, and was known for his yodeling skills that could sometimes be heard across the farm. Wayne loved to go fishing and hunt quail with his beloved English Pointers. While his children grew up, you could always find Wayne watching a basketball or baseball game for one of his kids.
Wayne was a member of the Moore's Chapel Church where he served on the cemetery committee for several years and was an active community and school board member.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susie Wallace; brothers, Wilburn and Johnnie Wallace; sisters, Ola Pettitt and Wanda Nell Brannon.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 70 years, Erlene , and his five children, Michael Wallace (Kathy), Cheryl Beatty, Darrell Wallace, Robert Wallace, and Rachel Stokenbury ( Craig); grandchildren, Jason Wallace (Loretta), Josh Wallace (Freda), Jordan Wallace (Melanie), Jason Selby (Becca); Jennifer Dinsmore (Nathan) as well as 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Moores Chapel in Waveland with Bro. Tom Sullinger officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Moores Chapel Cemetery.
