Violet Irleen "Butterfly" Potter age 93 of Bluffton passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville.

She was born January 26, 1923 in Bluffton, Arkansas to Joseph Henry & Violet Belle Benefield May. She was very involved in church, community and school. Her home was a gathering place for young people in the community. She was an Avon representative and was employed by the Fourche Valley School.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doyce "Doc" W. Potter; daughter, Mariam Gail Potter; a sister Beatrice Neighbors and brother, Joseph L R May.

Survivors include her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter Douglas, Katrina Bromley Potter and Kyrie Alice Potter of Fayetteville; niece, Dr. Jo Harper; great nephew, Dr. Mitchell Harper of Fort Smith; and great niece Kimberly White of Texas.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Bluffton United Methodist Church, presided by Pastor Dan Osolin. Private burial at Bluffton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bluffton United Methodist Church or Bluffton Cemetery.
