Willard Robert Nye age 92 of Perrville, passed away on December 7, 2021 at Central Arkansas Veterans Health Care System in Little Rock.  He was born November 23, 1929 in   Fairhaven, Massachusetts to the late Lindsey and Miriam Thatcher Nye.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Nye and his wife Helen started volunteering for heifer project international shortly after their marriage in 1974. They moved to Perryville Arkansas in 1979 to be the first host couple at the heifer ranch. Summers were spent giving hayrides to church youth groups and volunteers from across the nation, teaching them all about animals and sustenance farming. During their time with Heifer the Nye's took trips on C130's loaded with goats, chickens and rabbits to help Missionaries in the Dominican Republic feed hungry children.

In 1984 the couple moved to Cedar Creek Arizona to help train missionaries heading overseas with Food for the Hungry for two years. Their final stop before retirement was at the Hart Program in Lake Wales Florida where they once again helped missionaries learn how to do sustenance farming.

Mr. Nye was active in their church wherever they lived always lending a helping hand. He loved farming, animals, gospel music and sharing stories about his boyhood by the Nobska Light House.
