Bill Leonard William Michael Leonard, age 78, of Dardanelle died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home. He was born September 14, 1936 in Bayonne, New Jersey to the late Howard and Margaret Sugrue Leonard. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and past Union President of Boilermakers Local 1510. He was a natural, competitive athlete who progressed from gymnastics and Golden Gloves boxing in his youth, to his Olympic level diving in the Air Force, as well as his accomplished skills in golf and bowling in his prime. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosa Lee Leonard and one brother, Kenneth Leonard. Survivors include his six children, Roberta James and husband Eric of Dardanelle, Rose Marie Machado and husband Roger of Florida, Rick Leonard of Russellville, Robert Rego of South Carolina, John Rego and wife Linda of Arkansas , RoAnn Leonard of Ohio; two brothers, Bob Leonard of New Jersey, Richard Leonard of Massachusetts; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Susie Rego of Florida, Linda Shannahan of Russellville and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Monday, November 10, 2014 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Bro. John McCourt officiating. Burial will be in Ball Hill Cemetery in Russellville. Visitation will be held Monday, 1:00P.M. to 2:00P.M. at the chapel prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Michael Rego, Stephen Rego, Tyler Goodman, Colter Goodman, Terry Goodman, and Craig Roper. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Robinson, Johnny Rego, Michael Reigle and Vern McGuigan. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle.
