Obituary

William Dempster Mitchell, aka Flash, suddenly left this world on Saturday, October 12, 2019. He was born on August 24, 1956 at the Yell County Hospital in Danville to the late Willa York and William Dempster Mitchell, Sr. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Farrow.

William spent three years in the Army serving his country, before he went to work for Sam Konkel in construction and later went to work for the city of Danville, where he retired after 19 years of service. He worked for the Western Yell County School district for 18 years and was still employed there at the time of his death. William also served on the Belleville Fire Department of 24 years.

He loved spending time 4 wheeling with his son, racing at the Centerville Dragway on Saturdays, going to Branson with his family, and relaxing at home. William was a hardworking man, dependable, and at times a man of few words, but at times he could spend hours talking. He was a kind hearted man who would never say no. William was loved by all his family and friends. His family called him Junior. For those who knew him well, he was known as "Flash", but was actually slow moving (like his mom). He always got the job done. William will never be forgotten and will be forever in our hearts.

Survivors include his wife Shelba; three children, Janice Ham (Shannon), Robert, and Marisa Mitchell; four grandchildren, Brandon Mitchell (finance, Haley Alford), Joshua, Wyatt and Kimberlea Pickens; a sister, Willa Adair; 2 aunts; 18 first cousins; and numerous second cousins; 2 nephews; 2 nieces; and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at the Western Yell County Gymnasium in Havana. Burial will be at Upper Spring Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 15 th from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Danville.
