William Tilford “Butch” Garner age 83 of Greenbrier, Arkansas died peacefully at his home July 27, 2026.

He was born May 1, 1943 in Young Gravelly, Arkansas to Devo and Viola Garner. Butch grew up in a large family where he was 1 of 11 children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Roy Garner, Calvin Garner, George C Garner, Odean Garner, Richard Lee Garner, and sisters, Emma Jean Garner and Jo Runnels.

Butch was a graduate of Fourche Valley High School and attended Arkansas A&M College in Monticello, Arkansas and Arkansas Tech in Russellville. Butch retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department after 35 years of service. Upon retirement he enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends who were so very special to him.

Butch was a devoted husband of nearly 60 years to the love of his life, Bobbye. He dearly loved his family and friends.

Butch was member of Perryville First Baptist Church and often served as a greeter on Sunday mornings.

Butch is survived by his wife Bobbye, sisters Ruth Bostick (George) of Claremore, Ok., Pauletta Tipton (Roger) of Ashdown, Arkansas, and Linda Tucker of Star City, Arkansas, a sister-in-law, Becky Hearrell & brother-in-law, Jack Hearrell of Ozark, Mo. His extended family includes a host of nephews and nieces.

A special thanks to his caregivers and nurses from Gentiva Hospice and Cornerstone for all their help during his last days.

A Celebration of life will be August 1, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 pm preceding the service at Perryville First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of choice, or to Perryville First Baptist Church.
